Juneteenth 2023

If you have any filings due this Friday, you may have a reprieve until Monday, June 19. Governor Edwards has issued a proclamation declaring Friday, June 16, a legal holiday in observance of Juneteenth.1 Accordingly, the Louisiana Supreme Court and the Louisiana First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Circuits have announced that they will observe the Juneteenth holiday on June 16.

1 No, I don’t know why the governor didn’t make Monday, June 19th, the holiday since that’s the actual day of Juneteenth. That too would have given everyone a 3-day weekend.
