Everyday miracles

The other day, as my cat Wednesday was sitting in my lap licking my arm, it occurred to me that every molecule in her body started out as either water or Science Diet dry cat food — she doesn’t drink or eat anything else. While we can examine cells in a microscope — studying the mitochondria, watching the DNA replicate — we do not (and probably never will) have the power to change dry Science Diet kibble into any sort of living creature, let alone a beautiful black feline. Compared to that, changing water into wine is child’s play.
