Richard: By all means please do "steal." Blogs are for sharing, right? (Also, in about 5 minutes, I'm going to borrow something from Electronic Ephemera.)

Hey, im am a road cyclist and i believe cycling, tour de france is the most physically tyring and exhausting event ever. Riding up mountains, flats and downhills at incredible speeds, especially the distance they ride. 3 weeks straight, over 200km a day.

wrestling, the most brutal bodily taxing sport ever, just try to go one on one with a man that wants to rip your head clean off, but with one catch, no punches or kicks, just a full body workout that seems like hell for those who dont prepare enough, and working out in 100+ degerees with sweatpants to lose weight, i respect cycling, but it doesnt nip the workout iceberg compared to wrestling

I have wrestled for years, and I'm now a cyclist. Maybe I'm just into spandex sports. A full wresling match is like 9 minutes right???? A 1 day bike race is about 4 hours off non stop. Wrestling is intensity and cycling is endurance, two totaly different sports. However training for the Tour De France is harder than training for wrestling. Alltough I havn't trained for the tour I have gone to the extremes of Biking and wrestling. I'm leaving for the olympic traing center tommorow morning for cycling.
The toughest sport In my book is boxxing or that caged fighting stuff, like ultimate fighter.

i think that gymnastics is personally the hardest sport. it so demanding of physical and mental toughness. Gymnasts are never recognized. Gymnasts put so many hours in the gym. They train nonstop trying to do the unimaginable. They
flip, twist, fly, jump, soar, run, and work hard.

Personally I think figure skating is by far the hardest sport. That might sound biased but it's just the truth. I've done gymnastics and I give them a lot of respect but through experience I feel figure skating is harder and more taxing. think about it we're stepping out of our comfort zones throwing our bodies into the air crossing our legs, turning 3 1/2 revs., and pulling our arms i. THEN landing on one foot. we go into these jumps with a lot of speed and if the take off isn't right you're SOL (need rpoof check out mao asada's long program from world's 08 probably on youtube it was in sweden she messed up her entrance to her triple axel
:[ )training is also esp. intense. we run, we jump off and on ice. we climb ropes, we do hundreds of crunches a day, pushups, we hold backbends and splits for several minutes, we do strength training, power ice, and felxibility training. if you're not convinced at how hard this is google image a beillmann spiral we do that position both skating and spinning. not to mention- all of this is on ice. yeah let me see you throw yourself into the air, cross your legs, pull in your arms, trun 3 1/2 times, and land on one foot perfectly without falling at a huge ass speed. not so easy anymore. so don't give us that twirl girl shit, and laugh at our frilly short skirts. we work our asses off and don't get the recognition we deserve. so if you don't believe me go on yotube and search figure skating a dangerous sport then think about it

I think and i know Gymnastics is the hardest sport because they put so many hours into working out in the gym. Gymnasts never get recongized because not alot of people can do it so its not that popular. A regular gymnast works out a minimum of 5 hours in the gym 5 days a week. That's 25 hours in one week! The palms of their hands rip and bleed from bars. On beam they're flipping & twisting on a four inch beam.
and vault and floor they twist and flip several times in a row. they get soo high in the air while flipping they defy gravity. And not to mention how expensive it is. $250 a month plus $200 in booster fees and the cost of leotards, competitions, equipment, competition uniform, injuries, grips, braces, and so much more. And there are coaches who are abusive and when u do the life threataning skills you have 2 do and you brake you wrist or hav a really bad injury the coaches give em a bunch of pain killers and make them continue. They work out so much. Running for 30 mins push ups sprints and other crazy things. Ice skating is not as hard. I respect ice skaters tho because you do need 2 give them a little credit for being able 2 twist on ice but it still doesnt match up to how hard gymnastics is. Basically ice skating is twisting several times in a row in different body positions. If you watch it you'll relize what i mean. You only have opne event so thts all you need to know how 2 do. Remember there's 4 events in gymnastics. Ice skating isnt life threataning... gymnastics is. Sometimes the price of success can be life scaring with eating disorders, crippling injuries, abusive coaches, obsessed parents, zombie - like young women who grow up without a childhood, suicide attempts, and deaths. This might sound crazy but this gymnast was a lucky one. Her name was Julissa Gomez. She was 15 years old and ranked thirteenth in the U.S in 1988. She was competing in the World Sports Fair in Tokyo when she missed a vault and slammed full speed , head first into the vaulting horse. Her neck snapped instantly. It took three years in a coma before Julissa died in 1991. The same thing happed to Gary Moravo. He broke his neck on a botched vault , became paralyzed, and died a few days later. Yea maybe in ice skating you fall alot and land on your ass at full speed but when you fall YOU LAND ON YOUR BUT AND THTS THT YOU DONT GET ANY MAJOR INJURIES. Gymnast do so many crazy things. you can hurt every single part of your body in just one single move. Thats why Gymnastics is the hardest sport.

thank you zil gymnastics is by far the hardest sport. im tired of these dumbfucks who keep saying wrestling or foot ball or fucking boxing is the hardest. THEY TAKE NO SKILL WHATSOFUCKING EVER. i did gymnastics at a high level and can tell you other sports are pussy shit compared to what we do.

Figure skaters do not just fall on their butt. They fall on their head just as easily as their butt, as well as their wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, etc. And did you ever think about if you were in a lift 10 feet+ in the air and your partner dropped you, and at least in gymnastics you fall on a mat, but if you fell on your head onto the ice, you could die. And it is a lot more expensive than gymnastics. It is at least $250 per week, never mind month! There are skate sharpenings, ice time, punchs and stretchs, dresses (which if they are custom can be over $500), skates and blades ($1000), lessons, off-ice, ballet, pilates, guards, and more! And I've personally witnessed collisions between skaters when blades have cut peoples faces, legs, arms, and necks. Just think, all the blade really is is a knife!

just like armstrong said, cycling is the hardest sport than anything else. he tried everything(gym, run, swim etc.) and i agree with him. I mean 6 hours a day on a bike, over 100 miles losing 4000+ calories with good avg. speed (37+). Nothing can compare with cycle.

listen ive been wrestling a while now and i understand gymnastiscs is ahrd but its not close to the toughness of wrestling like in gymnastics do u have to weigh a curtain weight no u can gain weight in muscle, do u run 6 or more miles a day with no food in your stomach i know i wrestled 103 all 4 years in highschool and i was 5'6 the whole 4 years and i did'nt workout at the gym at all because if i gain muscle weight i would be over weight and it would be extra miles for me me meals were maybe 500 calories it was either salad with grilled chicken or steamed nigies ..............so don't even say that it takes more to be a fuckin gymnist because u don't know what the fuck yuor talkin about
Posted by: Feez | August 07, 2008 at 06:04 PM
i agree with Feez. In wrestling you have to make weight everyday and u must go through the most brutal things to make weight. Have any of u ever went on 10 mile jogs in 100+ degree weather on an empty stomach. i didnt think so. Also u are going one on one with anther person that wants to kill u. No punches or kicks only pure strength and skill. Its pretty much grappling with another person for 6 minutes straight. In gymnastics u just hop on the beam or floor or whatever and do a pretty dance for 3 minutes then ur done. i admit cycling and gymnastics are hard but wrestling is top dog here. It is the most phsically and mentally tough sport in history. And by the way for all those wimps that think football and basketball are harder then wrestling, u guys are fucking retarded
