The Defense Research Institute (DRI) has just announced publication of A Defense Lawyer's Guide to Appellate Practice, available in CD or in hard copy. It includes 24 chapters and covers every phase of an appeal, from preserving the record in the trial court through briefing and oral argument -- even Supreme Court practice. I served as a co-editor for this project, so I can assure you that it's both informative and well written. I also wrote the chapter on writing style and co-wrote the chapter on standards of review.

I think you should talk to the guys in marketing. Your word is enough to get me to shell out 140-bucks. But the information provided on the DRI page is underwhelming. It doesn't tell me who edited the book; who wrote the chapters; or what the title of each chapter is. I would particularly enjoy being able to view a copy of the table of contents. Stern & Gressman's book page is what I'd like to see.
Then again, maybe it's just me: I don't like to say good bye to my scare dollars until fully informed.
