Just one reason for this post

I'm still figuring out how to use TypePad, so if you see some rough spots, please bear with me.

If there's some content you liked on the old site that hasn't migrated to the new, don't worry -- it's all still there. Just click on the Rain Man 1 link at left.

Actually there's just one reason for this post: I want to move the damned disclaimer off the top of the page. I figured that I ought to have a disclaimer, and the sooner I posted it, the sooner it would move off the main page. Eventually it'll be buried at the bottom of the archive. But meanwhile, here it sits, on the main page. And while people probably don't mind its presence, I don't want it to be the first thing they see when they visit.

So here is some innocuous drivel that, unlike most drivel, serves a purpose.
